Acne is a very common skin disease that can cause both aesthetic and psychological disorders in people affected by this disease, which affects mainly the young audience.
Several acne treatments are proposed for combating this disease. The most conventional (soaps, gels with exfoliating substances, and oral antibiotics), control the disease but, after the suspension, there is a greater chance of return of symptoms.
For more serious cases or difficult to control, there is isotretinoin, a potent drug that can cure a high rate of the period of 6 months to 1 year, but with important side effects, especially to women in childbearing age, that can not become pregnant during treatment and up to 2 months after stopping drugs.
Laser and phototherapy
A new line therapy is increasingly taking the place of these acne treatments, are the apparatus of laser and phototherapy. In the latter group, through the application of a light source in the skin affected, at least 2 times a week, around 15 minutes each session, dramatically reduces the inflammatory acne in a period of 2 months.
The P. acnes bacteria’s, present in acne, is extremely sensitive to this light, and then destroyed after repeated applications. In other words, reducing the population of this bacterium decreases the inflammatory process and infection of acne, improving the image of the patient.
Already has the laser performance in the deep dermis, where the sebaceous glands are located. Through an intense warming in this region, these glands decrease your activity to secrete sebum to the surface of the skin, seborrhea and consequently improving the acne. Because of this action in the dermis, the heating will promote the formation of new collagen, causing it also to an improvement of the acne scars.
However it is important to stress that the best acne treatment is still the conventional, and that these new therapies can be combined with it or an option to treat patients resistant to conventional treatment or who can not make use of medications.
